Title: driver problem

   i have hd-hc500u2 hdd usb2.0 firmware rev? durring boot process with hdd attached get's to main screen of windows (destop screen) then it shuts down and reboots windows says  problem with a device driver but i tought all your drivers were on your computer not on the drive this problem is onily on 1 of  the 2 drives the other drive works fine and is their any way of resetting or rewrighting the driver to solve this problem or is their a chip upgrade for this problem the os is windows xp home edition oro service pk #2 now is service pack 3  2002 it does the same thing on all the computers if the drive is connected and powered

If the issue happens on multiple computers, it may be a hardware problem.

That would require a replacement.

Are the computers you've tried all similar machines?

If so, you may need to update the motherboard drivers or bios.
