Title: Linkstation Live Dead?
Post by: beano on January 19, 2009, 01:09:38 PM

I bought a Linkstation Live (HS-DH500GL) 6-8 months ago and I came back from a trip away recently to find out it seems to have died.

My LinkTheater, my laptop and my PC can no longer see any of the shares. I cannot login to the web admin interface.  I'm seriously worried I've lost all my files!!

I've tried the reset button on the back. It beeps and the Info button flashes but when I try to login using the default account (admin/password, right?) I get told the login is incorrect.

Little help?

You are correct (admin/password both all lowercase).

Does the Nas Navigator find the unit? if so what is the Firmware version?

Does the Error light flash at all? If so it will give you a code, count the number of long and short flashes.

No beeps, flashes or anything it starts up normally but no shares are found. (Though it has beeped/crashed and turned off before).

The FW is 2.10 and when I click on View Shares on NAS Navigator it only shows 'info' and 'lp' (printer shares).

beano,

Could you tell me which OS(es?) you're working with so I can give you some steps to try.

I'm using Windows XP on my laptop which has the Navigator software on it. I also have a Vista machine which had been working fine with the NAS shares just as regular shares (i.e. no special Buffalo software installed on the Vista box).

Anyone got any ideas or should I just try and get it repaired under the warranty?
