Title: Cannot map Linkstation Live in XP
Post by: reimerux on January 17, 2009, 05:09:39 PM

I have recently added a Linkstation Live to my home network. It is directly connected to a Netgear wireless router and it receives a static IP.

My network consists of two computers: 1) XP Desktop directly cabled to the router and 2) Vista Laptop connected wirelessly

After the Buffalo software installation, I am unable to map a network drive from my XP computer. I can ping the IP address and the NAS Navigator recognizes the Linkstation. However when I select the "Map a network drive" I receive a "This Terastation is already mapped or there isn't a share folder" error message. Mapping the network drive manually via \\IP\share does not work either.

Ironically, I am able to map the Linkstation without problems via my Vista laptop.

But if you want to share files and a printer between the two that does not help.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

First, check if there is any firewalls installed which is blocking the mapping.

On your XP PC, open up command prompt and type in   net use    and see if there is any mapped drives.

If so, type   net use  /delete [\\computername\sharename[\volume]

Then try to map the drive again.
