Title: Linkstation live CNID Database Problem
Post by: thescouselander on January 24, 2012, 12:44:48 PM

I'm having a problem accessing my Linkstation Live from my Mac - when accessing some folders I get the message "Something is wrong with the CNID DB".  From what I've read on the internet the CNID database has probebly become corrupted but I cant find a way of accessing it on the Linkstation to fix it.  Can anyone tell me how I can fix this problem?

Same problem.

I've got a 4TB LS-WX4 with a 4TB DriveStation attached DUO attached .

I noticed today that both my weekly backup failed last week.  The LS backs up to the Drive Station but when I connect to the Drive Station Share (usbdisk1) there are no files shown. Accoriding to NASNavigator the usbdisk is 36% full, but I cannot see the backup files anymore.

I ran the check disk utility in the web setting and then I tried manually running the failed backup.  That is when I got the message telling me that something is wrong with the CNID DB.

I have 1.5 TB data backed up - have I lost it?  Is there something wrong wite the DriveStation or LinkStation?

Note - this failed backup was the first since the upgrade to the 1.56 firmware

I have the same message when trying to back up via Time Machine.  I still seem to have read and write access to the rest of the drive, so I guess the problem is confined to the Time Machine sparse bundle container.  There are similar messages on other forums for other products, but the only fix I found was "Buy a better drive".

Anyone?  Thanks

Same problem here.

On my old Linkstation I could do a disk check and get the Linkstation to rebuild the drive, what is the alternative now?

I have an LS-XL running firmware 1.64 and OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2
