AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

We have a Buffalo Linkstation to use in our small office to act as a mini server to share and back up files. When try to back-up files from the Linkstation by dragging to my (High powered) PC just hangs and freezes whole PC. This is holding our vital folders and we can't make a back-up copy!!! 

When the PC freezes does the Linkstation lock up as well or does it look like the Linkstation is continuing to work as usual? Also, how many files are you trying to pull at one time off the Linkstation? Also, what OS are you running on your computer and any issues adding data to the drive?

 

Some general ideas on what you can try though:

 

1) go into the web admin page

 

2) go to disk management -> disk check 

 

3) Make sure the target is set to Disk 1 and click Select Target

 

When this finishes it may clear up the issue if it is simple file system corruption.

 

Also, it's possible something could be going on with the firmware, if the disk check does not correct try flashing the firmware onto the device with the latest version available from our site.

 

   Hi working on Vista. Usually no problems copying to the Linkstation- just when copying from there. This can happen with large and small files alike. (By small files I mean around 60mb) The frustrating thing is that on a fresh start up of PC and Linkstation I can do this superfast, then after they have been on for five minutes or so something happens and it just slows down and freezes.
