Title: Problems trying to reconnect to NAS after reboot. Getting the error 0x80070035
Post by: deciBel on December 03, 2011, 06:08:09 PM

Every time I reboot, I get this annoying error, that I need to click on the drivers-letter to be able to access the files on my NAS server.

I can access the server through typing in my IP as explained in this thread. (fixed, in my case : "\\192.168.1.15" ),

I can access the server via NAS Navigator 2. (ver. 2.3.2.)

I can access the server ...after clicking the driveletter icon.

I can NOT access trying to write \\SERVER\ (this "is what I've called my NAS server in the web-admin-panel...)

I've disabled my firewall, de-installed all antivirus, changed my computers computers network-ID. I've tried to disable my password for the windows log-on, removed the NAS server users.

I've got a brand new NAS server, brand new Dell Precision M4600, running Win 7 Professional, x64 bit. - Latest windows update....

I feel like I've tried everything,... Anyone here have any tips / pointers ?

I don't know what error 0x80070035 is.

But if  it is only a matter of giving your NAS a name other than its IP address, you can manually add the name and fixed IP address to the computer's 'hosts' file.  Open notepad as admin, open the file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts , and add the NAS name and IP address.

Regarding accessing via "\\HOSTNAME" ... nope :(

I can ONLY access by typing the IP address, OR clicking the icon in "my Computer...)

(You've got a PM ) :p

Thanx!

Thanks! :)

I tried this. It worked, but during a bit of further testing, I actually found an easier way...

Insted of mapping up a new "network drive",  I used the "share network folder". It got rid of the problem of non-connection during re-boot.

It seems to be fine. Hopefully it's a permanent fix :)

I can still not write "\\server\ in my adressbar. ..and it will now give me a new error code : 0x80004005.  But as long as I get connected to the drive, I'm happy.

Thank you for helping!!!

1. Goto Control Panel -> All control Panel Items -> Credentials Manager
2. Next to the heading "Windows Credentials" click on the link "Add a Windows credential".
3. Enter the name of your server and the appropriate credentials.
4. Reboot and enjoy :)
