Hi,
I have a weird problem on my Linkstation Duo LS-WXL, since start I have allocated a quota to each user I created on the Linkstation. I never had a problem before. Recently, I added 1 user and grant her 40Gb of quota. But whenever she tried to copy data on the Linkstation she got a message that she does not have write access or that there is not enough space left on the disk (that's under Windows XP 32 bit SP3). As administrator, I can copy file in her share. I tried to increase her quota to 50Gb, but same problem, Strangely, if I remove her quota, then everything works fine?!!??!
The linkstation firmware is 1.54, 2x2Tb disk as 1 RAID Array 1 of 2Tb.
I tried to remove her user profile and re-create it, but same problem... She never used the station before and never copied anything on it... I truly do not understand what's happening... any help or suggestion welcome.
Cheers,
Rv
Hi,
In case this happen to others, I may have found the cause of the problem. Since we start using the NAS, some users have left, and I removed their user account. Then when adding new users, the system seems to allocate them the first new user ID (=number, .e.g. 1001) available, which might be the same than a past user. This seemed to be the case here. When I changed this userID to a number that I was sure had never been allocated before, everything worked as normal with a user quota sets. So it seems that when deleting a user, his userID become available again and that's fine but the userID usage is not reset, and that's a problem.
Hope other find this information useful. Might be a bug worth reporting to Buffalo.
Regards,
Rv
