Title: Playback Skipping on Linkstation Live
Post by: Akito on January 12, 2009, 12:36:19 PM

Hi.  I am having problems with my PS3 playing files from my Linkstation Live.  Unlike people who reported not being able to see their files at all on their PS3 until they installed Firmware 2.11,  I have been able to access my movie files just fine since around July 2008, however, a few months ago, the movie files started jerking, pausing, and skipping.  The video would continue running but the sound would stop, then everything would stop, then the sound would resume and then finally catch up to the video.  It started off as a small problem, happening only a few times on a 40 or so minute movie file, but has reached the point where it does that every couple of minutes or seconds, making it really frustrating to watch anything.

I have a PS3 running the latest firmware, as well as a linkstation live running the newest firmware released a few days ago, firmware 2.11.  The PS3 is connected to the router via a wirelsss connection, while the Linkstation Live is connected to the router via an ethernet cable.   I realize that connecting the PS3 via ethernet to the router might be suggested, however, the playback issues were working fine for a few months before the issue began.  I have also made sure there is nothing else that could possible be affecting the transfer rate, such as a PC using up bandwidth, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

Try flashing the firmware on the unit then setting it back to factory defaults from the web interface.
