Title: Remote Admin of LS-CHL
Post by: MegatronLives on January 11, 2009, 11:07:23 AM

I am trying to remote admin my LS-CHL. I have a Linksys router and a forwarded port 80 to the devices IP.  I used the logic I found on another post that said type the IP and the port (http://99.99.99.99:80) into the addres bar of my browser (Mozilla) but that did not work.

Is there somthing else I need to setup in order for this to work?

Thank you!

Port 80 is used for http. In the web access service setup, specify a non-standard port number (e.g. 33333)

Thank you for responding!

I setup a non-standard port on my router and then pointed it to the ip of the LS-CHL. then I try to connect using my IP and then that port but I still am unable to connect.  The Host name on the Web Access setup should be my IP correct?

I don't think using your IP will work in the Host Name text box (although I've not tried it). Unless you've got a WAN DNS already setup, I'd recommend using BuffaloNAS.com to access your NAS remotely.

This is a good place to start in setting up Web Access. But this is what I did, and it's three stage:

1) Web Access -> Service Setup

2) Web Access -> Folder Setup

3) User Management

This is the bit which stumped me for a while. You need to setup an additional user; the Admin user account can't login via Web Access. Just create a new user, and give it whatever privelages you want. When you try to login again from BuffaloNAS.com, it should prompt you for a username and password. Just enter the detials of the user you just setup.

Hope this works!

I too was asking the same question. I would like to access the Admin. Side of the unit from the Web side without using Remote Desktop Connection. I spent alot of time trying to figure this out.

Thanks!

I tried that suggestion, It does work as far as accessing the files and folders but not the Admin/Users password and permssions from the Web side.

Thanks!
