Title: Linkstation LS-L320GL web access problems caused by faulty firmware
Post by: mucko68 on January 08, 2009, 11:55:45 PM

I have a Linkstation LS-L320GL Nas storage Unit with original firmware  this  unit Did Not  originally come with the ability to access it remotely so I down loaded the latest firmware  2.01 and it now has a limited remote capability

The interface page on the unit only contains the web interface section no other section I can set it up without security turned and access the default share remotely both from within my network and on the internet  but when I turn on security in the web interface I get a password prompt but for the life of me I couldnt figure out the password. then it dawned on me There is no ability to set up a user with in this new firmware so the unit cant authenticate therefore no remote access  the same issue occurs when I use Buffalonas.com

I called  Buffalo tech support who said the firmware for these units is faulty and a New firmware will need to be written  is there a know work around for this I am not game enough to access this linkstation remotely without security

Asisde from the remote issue the drive works excellent I am looking at upgrading from a 320g to a 500g Is it hard to install the new drive I have checked the internet and cannot find any reliable instructions on how to this I am aware this will void buffalo terms and are ok with this ?

Congratz, you have voided your warranty. The Pro was never designed to have web access and it will never be!

http://www.buffalo-asia.com/cgi-bin/support/download.cgi?country=ar&id=192

davo, i'm disappointed in you... you didn't see the sneaky middle "L" in the model number? Shame on you :P

Mucko68, try resetting it now that you've updated the firmware. The button is on the back. As of right now, there is no way to set up security with webaccess, however, it should be read-only.
