Title: DriveStation Quattro - Red Lights and Loud Beep
Post by: AlanGalbraith on September 07, 2011, 11:44:15 AM

On start-up my DriveStation Quattro HDQS2.0 spins up the drives, starts the fan, then shows all red LED's and gives a loud beep before seeming to shut down (no fan, no drives spinning). It does not show up on any drive utilities (on on a Mac)... any thoughts?

Davo is totally right, the enclosure itself is most likely gone.

As to whether the data is recoverable without professional data recovery is less clear. If you had another quattro enclosure, it might work, but if it corrupted the array on it's way out, it's hard to say.

If it would work with a more current quad enclosure is also not certain, I've never tried migrating drives across generations like that.
