On my LinkStation Pro Duo - LS-WVL/R1, my external USB HD is suddenly not showing up. I have only ever used it attached to the LinkStation. I pressed the function button today to try to dismount it, and though I held it in for up to 10 seconds, I never saw the function light turn on. I then powered off the LinkStation and detached the USB HD. When I plugged it back in, it did not show up. I plugged it into a Windows 7 computer, and I could see it in disk management - it said it was healthy, but it was not mapped to a letter. It is formatted XFS, so Windows 7 cannot read it, correct? In the LinkStation settings, it is listed in System/Storage/Disks, but with a status of disconnected and without any capacity information and does not show up under Shared Folders/Folder Setup, so it is clearly not recognized as being hooked up. I had one of these drives (WD Elements 2TB) die on me before, but when that happened, it's behavior was much different (blinking led light, not recognized in disk management). Is there anything I can do with the LinkStation to try to get this drive to show up, or do I need to take the drive in somewhere to have it looked at?
Edit: Using the program NAS Recovery for XFS with the USB HD plugged into my Windows 7 machine, I was able to see that all of my files are there, and recoverable. It seems like the drive is fine, but for some reason the LinkStation is not mounting it.
Now I have tried to plug in two other usb drives (which both work on both my Mac and Windows 7 machines) to my LinkStation and neither of those show up either. I just updated the firmware and that doesn't make any difference. The drives inside the LinkStation are working as well as ever, but I can't get the usb to work.
