Title: Linkstation Pro Duo with USB-HD and long filenames
Post by: Nigthowl on January 02, 2009, 12:03:10 PM

Hello,

are there some known issues about coping files with long filenames from USB-HD to NAS?

I copied about 40GB from an external USB-HD to the Linkstation - no error messages. After that I checked the foldersizes and I found out that some of the files are not copied correctly. This files have a very long Filename (near 255Bytes) and longer when in a subfolder of the LinkStation.

When I copy the file from the USB-HD attached on the Notebook (WinXP) to the LinkStation the file ist automatically shorten to e.g. abcdef~1.bmp. When I copy the same file from the USB-HD attached to the LinkStation the full filename ist copied but the file is not accessible.

Firmware V1.08

Thx in advance

I will have to run a test in order to replicate this issue, also I will look into any XFS limitations that may exist.
