Title: Garbage files?
Post by: strange_brew on September 29, 2008, 09:47:52 AM
I just looked at my Linkstation LS320GL through a mapped network share and see literally thousands of 168 KB files.  Most are .exe, and there are also corresponding shortcuts.  Examples of file names are: aaapi.exe, aaew.exe, ahpx.exe.  Again, there are thousands of them going up to the "z's".  Is this a linkstation issue?  I don't see anything like this anywhere else on my network so wondering if something has gone haywire with the Linkstation.

This is not normal, I would pull your data off and format the unit.  The linkstation does  not have the capability of creating, or even storing files on its own.  Something is sending this to the unit.  I would format the LS and update the firmware just to be sure.
