Title: TeraStation Disk Error - LED red ! Anything else to do ?
Post by: Lebej on January 02, 2009, 07:39:46 AM

Hi there !

I have a Tera HS DTGL-R5, which is having some problems. Looks like a physical disk problem, since i received an error notification. I went on web admin, and indeed there was a raid array error, due to a prob on disk 4, i tried an array restructration (3 disks dashed but disk 4 to be checkec), but it didn't work, tried to format disk ( but stil disk 4 appears as a disk with no file system recognised), I rebooted the Terastation, still disk 4 is non formatable, and is blinking red on status LED.

I went through this forum and i come to the conclusion, this is a disk to replace. Is there anything else to do to be sure of it ?

Thank You

Make sure the cables are plugged all the way in the hard drive as well as the mother  board of the NAS.

so i did ! took me some time to open this one ! who said drives are accessible ? compared to the tera pro II. Anyway, all cables are connected and problem still the same ! so i have to buy another drive. Can i buy the western digital from any shop or does it have to be from buffalo's ? i mean is it a common drive ?

Now everything is in a mess! i really need help

I managed to remount the homestation and put it in EM mode ( don't ask me why, i just did )

for what need ? i dunno ? tried to figure something out i guess. then as far as i undestood, i had to update the firmware ( to where it was ) so i downloaded the specific file, the version 2.03 for HS-DTGL-R5 and run it ! it said firmware update ! but the terastaion is still in EM mode and i cannot access the web admin page ?

What is happening ? what to do ? why is EM useful ?

the good thing is that the drive that had a problem is not blinking red any more !
