Title: NasNavigator 2 keeps asking to be allowed with network connections
Post by: Rippie on April 24, 2011, 02:36:11 PM

Hi everyone,

I have a LS-CHL LinkStation and a mixed environment of Windows 7 and OSX. Everything works fine on Windows 7 and to some degree on my OSX snow leopard. The issue i have is that I keep getting a popup asking if  want to deny or allow the NasNavigator2 applicaiton network connections. I have been in Preferences and Security and set the firewall settings to always allow, but yet i keep getting these. Can anyone help me? Is this normal behaviour that is to be expected?

Regards

Ronnie

This is not a normal behavoir and it seems to be an issue with your instilation of Windows 7 as this is the first time I have heard of it and I use the Nas Navi on all of my Pc's which are Windows 7 and I do not have the same issue.

I think the OP was referring to having issues with Mac OS.  I am having the same issue where even though I have added NASNavigator2 to my firewall settings, I continuously get a popup asking if I want to allow or deny incoming connections:

Do you want the application "NasNavigator.app" to allow incoming connections?

I clicked Accept, which added it to the firewall settings.  Even though it was there, I added it again manually after continuously getting the popup, but it still hasn't helped.

I have noticed this as well recently and I have noted it and I will see if I can get it addressed.

I as well have the following problem: accept incoming network connections and have completed the requested fixs.  I am using nas 252 and can not get rid of these reoccuring dialogue window.  Really think this should be addressed.

OS 10.7 Mac.

This is actually a problem with the OS X firewall. It seems to occur when items for specific applications are already present in the firewall advanced screens, carried over from previous versions of OS X.

If you delete all the specific application entries in the firewall and switch on "Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections", you will not be troubled again after allowing NN2 to connect.

This worked for me with NN2 2.56 and Mountain Lion.
