Title: Internal file copy on NAS drive requires network traffic?
Post by: FractalCracker on December 27, 2008, 03:22:35 PM

I sometimes need to copy a large folder on my NAS drive to another folder on the same drive as part of a work process.

I can do it from a networked PC using Windows XP explorer in the traditional method, but the operation is VERY slow, and my network connection light flashes non-stop as the files are copied.  Is there a way to do an internal copy from one folder on the drive to another folder on the same drive - at drive speed without involving all of the network traffic?

Unfortunately since this is a NAS drive the commands are all sent through SMB which will require network transfers in order to make a move like that.
