Title: LinkStation HS-DHGL5F1 - won't format external HDD
Post by: bassmanuk on December 14, 2008, 01:55:04 PM

I have a Linkstation HS-DHGL5F1 and use it with a Drivestation 500gb (unknown model name)

It was working ok until today, when it didn't recognise the Drivestation. I tried to reformat it through the Linkstation IP address , and it came up Format failed, and to check the LEDs

I removed the drivestation and reformted it to NTFS on my PC, which worked fine.

I reattached it to the inkstation, and it recognised it., even telling me it was formatted to NTFS.

Tried to reformat it again so it can be seen and used over the network, and got the same format failed error

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Try to format the drive station in Fat32, then you should be able to format it in XFS from the linkstation.
