Title: RAID array error occurred
Post by: quercus on December 11, 2008, 10:14:36 AM

I have a Linkstation Pro Duo Model LS-W2.0.0TGL/R1.  It is hooked up to a switch for file back up and storage.

I received the message that "An error was detected in the RAID Array."  Then it says "Select restructuring disk and click `Restructuring RAID Array`."  Neither of which are choices that are available.  Any suggestions?

Steve

Log into the web interface of the unit via its IP address.  Then click on disk management, then Raid Array.  You will see the restructure options in there.

I can see the restructure option but it is grayed out and can't be selected.

in this case your only option will be "Delete RAID array" you will have to do this and then once done you will have to recreate the RAID, this will result in data loss.

Is there any way to "Create" before "Deleting" and copy over needed files?  I can still access the LinkStation but I keep getting the annoying messages saying there is an error.

I did the "Delete RAID array".

The LinkStation can no longer be found on the network now.  I checked the LED lights and the red light is flashing 1 long and 5 short.

What now?

Try to boot the unit in EM mode (holding down the init button when the unit is booting) or if you have the function button then You have to shut the unitoff, wait about 90 seconds till its off. Now while holding the functionbutton turn the unit to "ON" and continue to hold the function buttonfor 6 seconds. This should reset the password to "password" and you canthen change it from there. Now once it power light stops blinking blueand turns green try to log in and see if it changed..

When you can ping the unit flash the firmware.

So there's no way to recover this now??

When it showed the error originally, it told me that drive 4 was the one having the error. Can I go and replace this drive and have the TeraStation rebuild the array still? Or is there no hope now?
