Title: Problem installing drivers.
Post by: Eions on September 02, 2010, 09:37:22 AM

So I have the Buffalo Link Station Duo 2TB, LS-WX2.0TL/R1

I have a problem with installing the driver or software from the CD that I got with the product.
The guide on the paper says, that I should connect it to my router etc. But I seriously don't want to connect it to my router cause my computer is connected to the internet with wi-fi and I think it would be slow as hell trying to copy stuff on in and the other way around.

So I connected the Link Station and the computer with the ethernet cable. Looked at the guide how to set it up...so bla bla. I got to the point where I inserted my CD and I should install the software/drivers. But when I push install, the "Please Wait" text kinda blinks like 6 times and then it says "Failed Linkstation Setup, Setup a LinkStation again"....Okay, so after that I can see the NASNavigator under my programs list installed.

So..I start it and it finds the Link Station. If I push the browse button, nothing happens, I can configure the IP stuff and go to the Web Settings. Other that than...nothing.
I even tried connecting Link Station and my computer with the USB cable...didn't find anything.

I seriously hope I don't have to connect it to my router.
And ..i'm using Windows 7 64-bit

Sorry for my crappy English

Cheers

The USB cable will not do anything for connection.  If the nas navi located the unit try right clicking and set a static to the unit that is the same as the NIC on your computer and see if it is accessible.  Also does the nas navigator report any errors on the device.  As for the CD install issue it does not properly work b/c of W7 x64.  This will need to be done on a different machine.  If you would like the CD contents.  Otherwise setup can be completed from the web admin interface.

Can't use the same NIC ..says that the IP is already in use. And no, the nas navigator does not report any errors.
Is there a guide how to finish the setup from the web admin interface?

There is no actual guide available, it is fairly straight forward as the options available under each tab and sub tab chosen to setup this device
