Title: Linkstation Media Server?
Post by: damoven on September 01, 2010, 05:03:52 PM

When I use Windows Media Player to access the NAS MediaServer on my LinkStation, I see multiple entries for the same songs.... I'm not sure why this should be as there is only 1 file on disk for each music track.

The files are stored in an itunes library, so I was thinking maybe the iTunes library xml file has multiple entries and the NAS media server is picking up on this?

Anyone got any ideas?

What version of windows media player?  Many aren't DLNA compliant.

It's Windows Media Player 11, running on a Windows 7 box.

I've looked at the individual file properties, and the linkstation thinks it is serving several different files (each file has different file names) but in the iTunes library (where the actual audio files exist) there is only 1 copy of each song.

Windows Media Player shows 2 and 3 copies of the same song at times.

I tried restarting the media server and this didn't rectify the problem.
