I need to update my Twonkymedia server on my LS-XHL to work fine with my samsung tv. I read here that a hide function exist to update the twonkymedia. Could you explain me how can i do that ?
Best Regards.
Elbozo, I dont mean to sound sarcastic but "good luck with this one". For some unknown reason (financial) buffalo will not update or let you update your version of twonky. I purchased my linkstation about 1 year ago and there have been 3 new releases of updated twonky media server programs from twonky but Buffalo has not updated it ever. We are stuck with no cover art displayed, we are stuck with a very limited version of twonky. If you find a way please share, there are a few of us here wanting to be able to update. I think the problem is that Buffalo purchased a bunch of licenses of the older version and now to include it in a firmware update it would cost them more money and they do not want to do that. What they dont realize is that if they were to offer the customer to pay a few bucks for the update including the latest version of twonky, most of us would do ti.
I agree with you...
BUFFALO, Please !!!! Let's us update TwonkyMedia Server, we are ready to pay a new licence at Twonkyvision !
It could be interesting if Buffalo's user can whrite here if they are ready to pay for an official update of Twonkymedia.
Keep in mind that you could purchase a twonky license and run twonky on a computer and just point to the media in your NAS to play on your LED tv. It's like running the sharing on Windows Media Player but a little better. I would just do what I suggested on your other post. Return it!
Thanks for your proposition, but the nas is on lan with ethernet, my TV too, but my imac is connect with wifi... So a Twonkymedia on the iMac freeze on my Tv with mkv file.
I don't want to return it, because I already return a Nas last Week (Netgear Stora), I can't return a Nas again... I will not try all nas of the planet... And, I really like this NAS ! But not the DLNA function. Compare to the Netgear, the Linkstation is very very very better ! lol But on the Stora, the DLNA function worked !
I hope that Buffalo help us, and update Twonky. Currently, I can stream MKV with linkstation, but not on my tv, on my internetbox it's work. But, I loose the Dolby 5.1.
So to confirm your saying that streaming to one of your devices is OK but to another its not working?
Yes, but, the device which the streaming working is oldest than Twonky v4 (so Twonky was include a compatibility with this device) but my Samsung TV (which streaming doesn't work) is latest, so Twonky v4 is NOT compatible with it. But, when I make test with a TwonkyServer v5 or v6 install on my Mac, the streaming with my TV work PERFECTLY !!!
So, why update Twonky on Linkstation is the Best solution :
- Everybody hasn't backup solution like me
- If I used Twonky v4 to stream on my other DLNA player device, i havn't Dolby Digital 5.1, because this device is not compatible. I don't buy a home cinema to use only stereo.
- If I used Twonky v5 or v6 on my Mac and stream on my TV, the movie freeze because my Mac is connected with Wifi. So the transfer speed is too short to stream properly.
So to enjoy my media in the best condition is to stream with my Linkstation and Twonky v5 or v6 on my TV !!!!!!
please, make us happy !
whats the model number of your Samung TV?
Strange, its not on the DLNA compatibility list: http://www.dlna.org/products/
UE46B7000 is the Europe Model number.
Try with UN46B7000, this is the same TV, but the US and Canada model number.
same thing, looks like its not DLNA compliant, could be the source of your issues.
This is exactly the kind of answer which make me angry...
First, My TV work very well with all DLNA server i've tried !!!!!!!!!!! (Twonky v5, Twonky v6, Eyeconnect, Netgear Stora)
HERE, you can read the DLNA compatibility of my device... The source ? SAMSUNG.COM !!!!!!
HERE, you can download the manual of my TV... I'm at work so I can't download it, but with a little research, you'll find easily the DLNA compatibility...
HERE, HERE and HERE, you can find resseller wich saied the TV is DLNA certified.
It's strange, i can't find Linkstaion pro 2To (LS-XH2.0TL) in the DLNA certified list, maybe it's the source of my issues ...
I found LS-XH1.0TL, maybe the difference between this 2 model is not only the HDD, but the DLNA compatibility too... It's stupid... As your previous answer !

listen, have fun trying to solve this on your own, i try and be helpful and get it blown back in my face, **EDIT*** removed by me.
When you arrived to ask me my TV model number, i was really happy to see a Buffalo cast member on my topic. I saied me, "Maybe he will back information to the Buffalo developer".
But despite a lot of consumers report the same kind of problems and the same request (update twonky) I was disapointed to see you blame my TV and not consider that the older version of Twonkymedia on the Linkstation is the source of all issues.
Sorry for my agressivity, but I don't understand what is difficult to update twonky on Linkstation...
i have nothing to do with Buffalo. i Just help and post on this board.
Ok, sorry for my answers.
But, why your username is write in blue ?
Because of the amount i have contributed to the forum and other users.
Here, someone who have the same problem...
The DLNA function work perfectly with Twonk 5.1 but not with 4.1.8
