I've started to get disk errors on my Linkstation LS-XHL 1TB (see below). Figure it's time to upgrade the HD. I saw on this site that pretty much any 7,200 rpm drive will work.
Would a 5,400 rpm Sata 3 drive also work (e.g. WDCaviar Green)?
FYI. Reformatted drive and copied everything back, but error kicked in again after a week or so. I can actually hear clunking sounds coming from the HD in the drive and it's out of warranty.

Sorry to say that an "Eco Drive" such as the one you mentioned might not work with our device. I know the RPM is lower, but I don't think that's the problem. You're welcome to try and post back your results as this hasn't been tested, but I can't say 100% one way or the other.
