Title: LinkStation HD-H250LAN very slow
Post by: ebro on August 20, 2010, 04:15:59 PM
Hi! My LinkStation (LS) HD-250LAN ver. 2 with Firmware 2.05 seems to be very slow. Same problem with firmware 2.30 (also denoted 2.31). My network consists of a PC (Win XP SP 2, NIC 100 Mbit/s), D-Link 524 router and all cabling in Cat 5e. Everything is slow: - Writing from PC to LS (2 MB/s for a 1 MB JPG, a saved website with 100 kB is about ten (!) times slower). - Copying from LS to LS (about 3 to 4 MB/s for the 1 MB JPG) - Deleting from LS (about 60 sec for 10 copies of the 100 kB saved website). - Web configurator software takes very long to act or respond. Since the "10 saved websites" involves 10 sub-folders with over 40 files each, it looks like creating and deleting folder and file structures is so time consuming, not the network. I already tried two different firmwares (installed according to the tutorial in this forum) as well as a reset; I also did a repair scan, both normal and thorough I'd be glad for any good hint. Should I format the disc?

Sounds like normal behavior for that device.  The processor inside I think doesn't exceed 800 Mhz so large volume creation and deletion can take some time.  Network transfer speeds sound normal.
