Title: Twonky Access Blocked ? LS Pro XS 1TB
Post by: Futski on August 20, 2010, 04:20:18 AM

Hi,

Just purchased a new Linkstationpro (old LSH which i manually added Twonky years ago finally full..) with the promise of a media server installed upon it. Plus ive just upgraded the firmware to 1.34.

Discovered via Windows 7 that its a Twonky drive, but how can I access it ? I have tried http://IP :9000 or 9050 but to no avail.

Guys at the help desk said access is blocked - is this true - surely there is a work around ?

Can anyone help ?

Oh and also how can I get it to work with my xbox ? My old Twonky server worked fine with the Xbox but this one doesnt - something to do with DLNA vs UPNP ??

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Martin

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a workaround available as Twonky is usually accessible by those ports.  If the Twonky panel has been made inaccessible for that version of firmware I would recommend a rollback of the firmware.  What the help desk technician said I can't really vouch for as this is the US/Canada forums.  Since the XBOX is not DLNA compliant we don't have any workarounds if there are media server issue due to this incompatibility on the XBOX side.

I have noted your comments but strongly disagree. Your website and advertising blurb states quiet clearly that you can stream from Linkstation to Xbox. It was on this representation that I bought the product. Now if your telling me that you cant stream to an xbox thats false advertising....

So what is the true position ???

I'm not carrying this argument out over 2 threads.  The other one has been locked.  We don't have a stance on what the UK site states.  I would recommend contacting them however I will forward the information you've stated to be changed as they see fit to comply with your accusations.
