Title: Terastation Performance
Post by: obx_fisherman on August 16, 2010, 02:30:08 PM

I have recently purchased and installed a TS-RIX8.0TL/R5 for my organization.  It is connected via an HP Procurve Switch (1810G-8) to my HP DL380G5 server. I have one of the NICs in the server dedicate for the iSCSI network. My iSCSI network is on a different subnet than my corporate network.  I have Jumbo frames enabled on the server, switch and the Terestation.

My problem lies with the transfer rate to the TeraStation.  I copied a 34M file from my workstation to a folder on the TeraStation.  It took 16.4 seconds at 2.07M/sec.  I copied the same file from my workstation to a local hard drive on the server and it took 2.6 seconds at 13M/sec. I backed up our users folded last friday with 126K files, and 262G of data and it took 7 hours and 49 minutes.

Is this normal throughput for the Terastation or should I expect faster response?

Thanks
