First, let me say I'm not very computer literate and terms like "firmware", especially when "forced" intimidates me.
Basically, I would like to connect my terastation (TS-HTGL/R5 1.13) to my linktheater (PC-P3LWG/DVD), so I can listen to music and watch videos.
I lost the DVD that came with the Link Theater and have a new computer. My old computer is dead. The linktheater will connect directly to other terastations that have PCast, but I can't figure out how to upgrade the TS-HTGL/R5 1.13. I keep reading references to a firmware 2.13 or 2.14, but I can't find it, and I don't know that I could figure out how to upgrade it, even if I could find it.
Alternately, if I could find the media server program for my PC that would work as a backup solution, but PCast seems like it's more idiot proof (if you can get it running).
Hopefully I've given enough info. I guess ... I'm running a PC with Vista, also.
I'm happy to answer any questions to further clarify my own. Is there a PCast for dummies section?
In short ... what do I do?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
DJ
Thank you for the post DJ. Unfortunately, adding PCast to the TS Pro II is not really possible as the NAS was mainly meant for a small business environment. The latest firmware I see is 1.33 (according to the US site) which one of our lab devices is upgraded to and doesn't show a Media Server function either. If you're looking for the original software though you can nab it here which is a zip archive that you can extract and burn the contents to a CD. I wish I could be of more help to you in your Media Server endeavors with this NAS but there are limitations to each incarnation of these devices. Post back if you have further questions.
