Everytime I try to backup from Linkstation LS-250GL to LS-500GL I get an error as show below in the log. It work fine for a couple of years after the change to Windows 7 backup from either Linkstation has ended in an error. Any Help?

Does the folder Backup_DOCS exist on the root level of the LS500?

Yes

I also get the same type error if I try to run a backup from the LS-500GL to LS-250GL  (cannot backup from either Linkstation to the other)

Is this a home network (I have had some of these devices located in a small office environment)?  Are there any hardware firewalls (SonicWall, etc.)?

Yes they are in a home network with 2 Laptops, a printer, and a TV. Only the firewall built into the E3000 Linksys Router, and the software firewall (Norton NIS) on both computers.

As an aside the LinkStations themselves (not mapped folders) use to show up under "Network Neighborhood" With Vista. Now with Windows 7 only the two laptops, printer, and TV show up under the "Network" Icon when you click Computer then Network  in Explorer.

What are the IP addresses of the NAS devices?  Accessing via the "Network" icon usually only means network name resolution is working in which case we strongly suggest access via the IP of each device.  As far as I can tell the router firewall should only be for the WAN side so that eliminates that from the scenario.

I have assigned static IP addresses to each linkstation, one is 192.168.1.4 the other is 192.168.1.5. Both assigned to a workgroup called "Workgrooup" as is everything on the network

Might possibly be a conflict with the DHCP pool.  If you set those devices to static IPs (e.g. 192.168.1.25 and 192.168.1.26) you might have better luck.

I appreciate I'm responsding to an old post, but I'm getting the same errors when attempting to run a disk backup between my LS-WTGL/R1-V3 F/W 3.09 and my Linkstation Pro LS-VL.
