Title: LS-WSXL V1.33 FTP
Post by: colinwray32 on August 14, 2010, 09:18:59 AM

I have setup two share folders, one for private data and one for public data.

The private share is set to "Allow All Groups / Users", and the public share is set to "Allow Anonymous".

This works very well using the browser interface, the public folder is immediately available and the private folder requires you to click on "Login" and supply a username and password.

It is not so successful using FTP, because the Linkstation demands a password whatever username is provided (including "anonymous"), and then gives access to both private and public files.

Am I missing something ?

Many thanks, Colin.

With FTP it's a little tricky but you'll want to use the following syntax for adding credentials in FTP:

http://[user[:[password]@[IP_address_for_FTP]

That should work.  Post back and let me know what happens.

Many thanks, I will try this.

Unfortunately disk1 has just reported 12 errors and declared itself unserviceable.

RAID 1 was configured so I rescued all my data and ran an erase, so am now waiting for a replacement.

Having run the erase command I can no longer login either as admin/password literally or using my previous setting.

I have tried switching on holding the function button down, but this does not help.

Possible firmware corruption but I'm not sure as to why that would happen.  Best thing would be to wait for the replacement to arrive first of course.
