Title: Time Machine Error: Network Username & Password problem
Post by: nreynolds5092 on July 25, 2010, 09:38:09 AM

I have a LinkStation Duo: LS-WX1.0TL/R1, firmware 1.24, set up as Raid 1.

I have

I have connected the LinkStation directly to an ethernet port on the Airport Extreme Base Station. I have created a dedicated Time Machine folder, in which I created the "sparsebundle" for the iMac, as well as the MacBook. When I setup Time Machine on the MacBook to use the LinkStation for backup, it works fine. When I set up the iMac in the same way, I get a "Network Username or Password error" when Time Machine tries to mount the drive. Finder sees the drive just fine, and I can drag and drop files and folders back and forth as I should. What gives?

Details that may or may not be incidental:

Regards,

Nikki

When the sparsebundle is created is is MAC address specific, if you are using 2 different units you will need 2 different folders with 2 different sparsebundles
