Title: LS-XHL: PS3 XMB icons
Post by: jojin on July 24, 2010, 06:38:02 AM

Hey guys,

i have a Buffalo Linkstation Pro (LS-XHL) connected to my PS3. It works great. PS3 identifies the LS-XHL as a media server and playing mp3s and videos works fine, pictures too of course. I already know that .mkv files cant be played by the PS3 and i have to convert the videos with mkv2vob.

Now the question:

How is it possible to see a "XMB preview icon" from the song/album or video when you browsing the media on the LS-XHL through the PS3. Im always seeing the default icon. I tried to embed the cover art directly inside a mp3 file but this doesnt change anything. For vidoes, i added a jpeg with the same name as the movie inside the movie folder but this also doesnt change anything.

And does it make any difference for the PS3 menu structure if i add metadata info to the mp3 (genre, year, ...) or video (genre, resolution, ...) files? I tried it for .avi files with abcavi tag editor and for mp3s with mp3tag tool. Again, doesnt change anything.

Please give me a hint if its possible and how to do that.

Thanks alot,

Jojin
