Title: FTP Problems
Post by: infodeli on July 19, 2010, 07:24:27 AM

Hi,

We have 2TB TeraStation III, which has been working as our backup device for some months now. We've had no problems so far, until we tried to get FTP working to be able to get backups from a remote location. No matter what FTP client or user/password we are using, we get FTP error 530 login incorrect. I've enabled FTP from network/services and also from all shares. Also i've tried with temporary test user that has alphanumeric password instead of high security domain user's passwords. Firmwares we have tested are 1.30 and 1.32. Any help with this issue??

Thanks!

if your using FTP on the same LOCAL network as one of the TS's does it working?

ftp://username:password@LOCAL_IP_OF_TERASTATION.

whats the error you getting then?

No, it does not work, even in the same network. I tested the link you provided with proper un/pw/ip and yet it gives me same 530 login incorrect error message. I also tried both IE and FF.

I checked FTP log from Syslog settings and it's completely blank.

I take it your not importing users/groups from your AD domain onto the TS?

Yes I am, and they're working flawlessly in normal use. It's just this FTP that doesn't seem to work at all. No matter with what user (domain/local) I am trying to access FTP, it always fails with 530.

As far i i know if you use the TS in conjunction with your AD domain to import user/groups you will not be able to use FTP. I am 100% sure this was the case with all the older TS models and 95% sure its still the same with the TS III.

Exactly what i've been fearing about. Too bad there's no information about such issues in manual or product documentation.
