Title: tera station pro symantec
Post by: eradz on December 03, 2008, 11:06:30 AM

all windows 2003 server / xp environment / AD

Trying to use the Back-up-to-disk function on symantec backup exec 10d, from the 192.168.5.x subnect to the 81.x subnet.

The terastation is on the 81.x subnet and i can create a back-up-to-disk just fine, and backup the server/san from the 5.x subnet. But now i want to create the back-up-to-disk using the symantec backup from the server on the 5.x subnet but get access denied when i try to create it.

Im using the same login on both machines which is the domain admins login. I can access the terastation fine when i go to the  start > run > \\terastation

the lady from tech support said none of the products are supported for cross network compatability, ie: stay in your own subnet.

I think this isnt right. Has anyone done this yet? setup a backup to disk on a subnet that the terastation isnt on?

Thanks

Chase
