"1. The install cd that I downloaded was never able to complete - it failed when it got to the step of trying to find the Linkstation on the network."
Most likely a firewall issue, but you shouldn't need the CD anyway. If you have antivirus that contains a firewall make sure that the firewall is disabled through the program, don't just disable the program.
"5. Whenever I try to access it using either the Run command or the Explorer -> Tools -> Map Network Drive it fails and I get an error about not being able to reach the Network Location. "
Can you give me the exact error message. Also when using the run command make sure you are using "\\IP" not "//IP" or "\\hostname".
"6. Also I try to run the firmware updater and it fails with the error that it can't find a Linkstation in need of updating."
You made sure to get the 1.07 not the 1.24 right? Also make sure that the NASNAVI is completely closed out as they run the same protocol on the same port. If the NASNAVI can find it now then the updater should be able to find it.
"3. Something else I was able to determine was that I can use IE to FTP into the drive, but all I see is /Drive1 and /Info - I can't see either of the shares I have and when I try to FTP directly to the shares using ftp://10.0.0.10/Disk1/share I get an error message that says "550/Disk1/share: Permission Denied"
Did you enable FTP on the shares through the web interface?
Edit: opps, sorry, didn't read the end of your post until after i posted. I am going to leave this up for other people to use.
If it's working with one machine there is no reason it shouldn't work with another. Tell me the exact error message and make sure you are trying to map via the run using \\IP.
Thanks for the response.
Here is the messag I get when I try and use the Map Network Drive feature with the info ||preco
"Windows cannot access \\10.0.0.9\share. Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there may be a problem with your network. To try and identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. "
I was able to turn the FTP permission on and access the shares that way.
However I still can't map the drive as a letter.
Thanks very mcuh for any help.
