Title: LS-CHL: FTP not working
Post by: Merlin123 on May 17, 2010, 10:28:53 AM

Hi!

I've bought a new LS-CH500L. I can access the storage via Windows and I can use the Media-Server.

Now I've tried to set up FTP, but it's not working. (local network)

The Linkstation has firmware 1.02

FTP is active

Shared folder FTP is active.

When I try to open a FTP connection (via Filezilla)   I'm getting the following:

"ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server"

I'm using the local IP adress of the LinkStation (192.168.0.117) and port 21, transfermode standard, logontype normal.

FTP connections to other servers are working well.

Any ideas what's going wrong?

Bye,

Merlin

I am having the same exact issue with my Linkstation LS-WXL - firmware 1.61

Hopefully someone chimes in here

NOTE: SFTP works no problem

Ok, I believe the latest firmware is 1.12 update it first and then reset the unit start with a clean slate.

Emailed support and got it sorted

Has the unit been configured for an Active Directory or Workgroup network configuration?  Which firmware revision is the unit running?  If the device has been configured to join Active Directory the FTP server is disabled.  You would need to switch it back to a Workgroup configuration to use the FTP service.  If you go to Network > Settings > Network Services you can confirm the FTP service is enabled.

All I did was enable FTP under Network > Netwrok Services

It's frustrating that you can configure an FTP destination and not get warned that the FTP service isn't enabled, or that it doesn't get flipped automatically.

SFTP doesn't require this extra step, but it is much more secure.

All of these links are dead.

Then post a new thread about what your issue is instead of bringing up a four year old topic.
