Title: TeraStation registers wrong address in WINS
Post by: ASaucci on May 08, 2010, 04:30:46 PM
I have a TeraStation ES model TS-XE6.0TL/RS with firmware 1.20. It is joined to a Windows 2000 domain. I have nothing plugged into the second network adapter and it is disabled in the TeraStation. The enabled network adapter is set for DHCP, and the DHCP reservation explicitly lists no WINS address. Yet the unit insists on registering a 169.254.x.x address for the second adapter with WINS. I believe this is causing network problems, although pinging the NETBIOS name of the TeraStation returns the IP of the correct adapter. How can I get the TeraStation either to register the address of the enabled adapter or simply disregard WINS altogether?

You said that the second port is not connected, right? This shouldn't interfere with your network.

Nevertheless, the unit is registering the wrong address with WINS. How do I stop this? If the second adapter is disconnected and disabled, the unit should not be registering the 169.254.x.x address of the second adapter with WINS.
