Title: RAID failure
Post by: garfield on May 06, 2010, 08:15:41 PM

After several years of un-interrupted operation, our Terastation H0.6T had a RAID failure.  Initially all drive lights and status lights were green, however no files were showing in the drive folders.  I shut the unit down gracefully - let the power button do its flashing shut down.

After re-starting the unit all 4 drive lights began flashing red and the diag light flickers red.

I'd really like to believe that this DOES NOT MEAN I've lost the data on the RAID 5 array.

Please help with assistance in recovering some (all?) of the data.

Thanks,

Gary

Gary,

Even if there is a raid error does not mean your data is lost.  There are options available to you such as professional recovery services (i.e. drive savers) or even software based solutions UFS Explorer for data retrieval.

Thanks - If all 4 drives are shown as failed (4 blinking red lights) at the same time - no previous indication - wouldn't some common point of failure be suspected? I'll be calling the support number when they wake up later today.

You mentioned UFS explorer - where can I learn more about that?
