I am hoping someone can help me set up the internet access on my Buffalo Linkstation LS-WSXL/R1.
I setup the Linkstation to be my music share drive and everything seems to work well with it until I attempt to go online using
www.buffalonas.com. From an external connection, i.e. my work computer, I get an interent explorer error that the webpage cannot be displayed. From my home computer I get a warning on Google Chrome that the security certificates are not valid and I should not proceed. If I do proceed, I can get to the music but it is extremely slow and eventually a script gets some error...not very useful at all.
I called Buffalo and Belkin (wireless router manufacturer) who told me I need to forward the port, which I believe I did using port 9000. I followed their instructions and it does not seem to work. I also tried setting up using UpnP and get an error saying "Port Forwarding Failed. Use manual setup." My wireless router is less than a year old, model F6D4230, so I cannot figure out what the problem is
Any thoughts? Please keep the answers on the layman's side...I'm a lawyer and can only go so far on the technical side before my head starts spinning.
If port 9000 does not work, try port 9001. Also the fact that you could connect at home even tho it was slow was because you were on the same network as the device was. the web access portion is set up correctly if you could access the unit initially. From what was described the problem lies withing the UPnP/firewall/port forwarding/and or finally some customers have said they needed to call their ISP to get some ports cleared.
