Hi, first of all, I am a dummy and don´t know much about networking.
I am writing from Brazil, so I don´t have Buffalo´s assistance. I bought my Linkstation in Amazon.de, Germany, and brought it home in 2008. It worked fine, and I had a USB TrekStore 500Gb backing the Linkstation up. I set the LS Backup software to do a backup into the USB drive every day at 3a.m. Since February it stop doing it. So, last week I tried to fix that, and than started my problems.
First, after I unplugged the USB drive, the LS started with an error. I don´t know how many times it flashes the light. I turned it off for I while (7 days) and than turned it on again. Now, it makes no error warnings, but I can´t access the LS on my network. On the router, it is registered as HS-DHG-EM059, but I can´t access it trough the web interface or trough the CD software.
The bad think is, that the USB-Harddisk, that was suposed to be my second backup, is dead to. I just cant access it directly from the computer.
Now, I tried to update the LS firmware, but it is "Waiting for a response from HS-DHGL..." for hours and nothing happens.
If i press the "reset" button on the back, will I lose any data?
I need help, please. I can not stay without my doble backup!!

USB Drive: TrekStore Datastation g.u. 500Gb
What version of firmware are you trying to update with? Did you download that from the EU Buffalo site or the US one?
The PC you are running the updater from, is that wirelessly connected or directly connected to the network?
make sure that all anti-virus and firewall software is disabled on the PC, and that the IP of the PC is int eh same reange as the IP of your LS.
Firmware file called: HS-DHGL_221-083.zip
should be version 2.21
I am really sorry, but I am not sure from where I downloaded it. I think it was from the US.
Firewall and anti-virus are off, IP adresses are:
PC: 192.168.1.201
LS: 192.168.1.200
I am conected to the network routes by wires.

I tried everything again...
Now it worked for I while, but it stopped after the message: "waiting for the HS-DHGL059 to boot" with the following message:
"HS-DHGL059 returns an error. (ACP_STATE_FAILURE)
Updating is aborted."

After this error, I was able to reach my updated files on the network, but I am unable to enter the LS trough the webinterface. I never changed the password, so it should be admin/password.
Is it possible that with the partial update the usarname or the password have been changed to some other default?
