Hi,
I recently acquired a LinkStation Duo 4Tb the group I am working for in the University.
I noticed that the firmware is 1.22 whereas the last version is 1.24. How important is it to upgrade? I do not have any particular problem with the NAS, except relatively slow transfer rate (~4~8MB/s) and very slow web admin access. When I tried to upgrade the firmware I got the following message:
"Couln't confirm a response from LS-WXLA64. Please check a network address of both PC and LS-WXLA64. Please disable the firewall function if it is working on PC. Updated is aborted."
Can this be the cause of the problem?
Now, regarding the folders, my question is, I can create folders, but I can't create or access subfolders in them via the web admin? Is this normal or did I miss anything?
Thank you in advance for your help,
Rv
In short yes the IP addresses being on different subnets is the cause of your issue. Your NAS should be on the same IP subnet (ex. 192.168.11.xxx) as your computer. Firmware can be upgraded by connecting the NAS to a standalone router and (as long as the firmware upgrade file is present on it) connecting a laptop to the same router and upgrading that way. Please post back if you're having further difficulty.
OK thanks for your reply. I'll have to take the NAS at home as I cannot setup the NAS IP to be on the same subnet than my PC. IT services of the University are managing this, and NAS have are on a different subnet.
Thanks for your help.

Not a problem and post back if you have further issues :robotvery-happy:
