Title: Failing drive is unknown
Post by: fireteller on April 19, 2010, 07:31:14 PM

I'm getting the error below from my linkstation Quad, but it doesn't help me to identify the drive that has trouble. How can I find the drive to replace it?

If you look on the front of the unit there are 4 disk lights, is one of them flashing? yellow? red?  Also are you still able to access the unit? If you are able to I would suggest a backup of the data and try to do a disk check, and possibly a rebuild the raid.  As for options for replacement disks, you can power the unit down and easily remove the discs to check the model and manufacterer.  At that point you can purchase a replacement drive, or if the unit is still in warranty can opt for an RMA for the drive.

All lights flicker green.  But I keep getting these messages spammed to me in the hundreds. Without more information it's imposable to tell which drive is failing.
