Just got this in a few days ago. Copied about 300GB worth of files to it. Mapped it as our main file server. Attached 1TB powered USB drive to it for backup.
Woke up the next morning, checked the backup and couldn't connect to the Buffalo anymore. I was forced to power it off and back on. Checked the backup which had died at around 50% when comparing the space on the USB to the identical amount of space on the Buffalo. 'Been running a second backup most of the day--just checked it--same thing. No longer have web access. Have no idea if file copy is still occurring or if the unit is entirely frozen up. Not really wanting to wait a few days with all of our files in limbo and inaccessible only to find out that the copy has stopped.
Kind of difficult to do a backup if the Linkstation can't handle a few hundred gigs of backup without freezing up. I'm getting really frustrated. My 3rd WRZ-HP-G300NH is failing to port forward, my 2nd taste of Buffalo products, the LS-1.0TCHL, is already showing signs of failure and I've just set it up...ugh!
You didn't mention what you had formatted the USB drive to as well as which firmware the device currently has. You've posted on our forums before, but I would recommend checking the guidelines.
