My linkstation works perfectly, but I cannot update the firmware.

I tried to find the linkstation with updater version 1.06 but it keeps saying: LS-GL/R1 wasn't found. I switched off Zonealarm and also windows firewall. Also I have connected the pc directly with a crosscable and also with a straight cable, but updater still doesn't find the linkstation. (Nas navigator2 in fact does)

I run Windows 7 Home premium on a acer laptop aspire 8935g.

Can anyone please help me?

I followed the suggestions http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-2-of-3-Force-Firmware-update-procedure-please-read-this/m-p/11011 about the .ini file and the Linkstation was found. So this problem is solved.

Is it possible to update the the LS-WSGL with the LS-WSXL firmware?

Nope, they are two completely different units.

Thanks for your quick response.

Upgrading firmware went fine until the last stage. During rebooting it said: could not respond or something and the led turned red. I stopped the session by turning off the power. Later on I tried to boot again, but no response. So I think I have lost the boot image. (the red led flashes in series of six)

I tried the TFTP boot in EM mode (press button switch power on until blue function led flashes and press the button once again. But no result. The led went red again but after pressing the button once again the red led went off, but the blue led kept flashing. The TFTP Boot application said: '' Client 192.168.11.150:2984, communication error". I am sure all firewalls are off. I also used direct communication wifh a cross over cable.

My LS-WSGL/R1 is only four months old.

Can anybody please help me?

I tried a XP machine and now I get Blocks Served. What am I supposed to do now....?

The NAS Navigator says: Host Name: LS-WSGL-EMA34; IP address 169.254.183.105; Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0; Firmware: nothing

I closed the TFTP boot app. and started LsUpdater.exe version lswsgl-106. Unfortunately it can't confirm a response (updating aborted). I'm sure there is no firewall on...

Has anybody a suggestion...?

Set a static Ip address on your LAN and then try to run the update.
