Hi:
I just got a 2 TB LinkStation Duo - LS-WXL/R1 (Raid 1 so 1TB storage) to store all of my family photos.
Even though Raid 1 will give me a redundancy piece of mind, I was thinking of getting an external hard drive to make a backup of the NAS and wanted opinions on how to best to this.
It would be nice to do a full backup weekly and just wipe out the last backup.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Mitch
Mitch,
Setting up a request such as this only takes a few minutes of though and 10 minutes of work, almost any USB external drive will work for you, but it is strongly suggested you get one that has its own AC cable with a ground attached to it. Upon attaching it to the unit you will need to utilize the format tool within the Duo interface to make the drive XFS format. After that it just comes down to setting up your backup job which can be done via the Duo's interface as well with customizable options.
