Title: Buffalo NAS LS2208 Series file copy issue
Post by: MarkMccabe on January 16, 2026, 11:43:04 PM
I am running Windows 10, 64 Bit Home edition Version  22H2.
I am using  NAS Firmware version 1.86, and NAS Navigator Version 3.12.0.
Using Nas Navigator I can create folders and set permissions, works great.
However, every time I copy a file from my computer and try and paste it into a new empty NAS folder it says "File already exists, do you want to overwrite it?" Obviously, I do not want to have to do this every time I want to copy a file to the drive.
When I investigate, I see the NAS has created a new 0 byte file with the name of the file I am trying to copy, so I suspect that is the reason I am getting the message. I do not understand why it is doing this and not just copying the file as I requested it to do.
IF instead I try and copy a file from one folder on the NAS to a different folder on the NAS using the same windows Copy and Paste commands it works fine.
Perhaps it is a router/gateway issue, I do not know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using Win 11 and file explorer to access my mapped Terastation shares, I see this at times also.  If you use file explorer and just let the error window stay there, you will file explorer window refresh behind that error msg box, with the 0 byte files- right there.  I just let it overwrite the files.  They are 0 size like you say.

Something gets ahead of itself is why it happens, this we know.  Windows issue or buggy buffalo firmware, that's all I can think of.
