I have an LS441DE packed with four 4TB drives in RAID 5. I recently found it in degraded mode with the LED showing E12; the culprit was the fan dying. When I tried it log in to the settings it wouldn't take my admin password. That's when I decided it was time do make a fresh backup.

During the file copy drive 3 errored out, so I powered it down and let it rest for a while. When I turned it back on I found the array showing as "Unformatted" with errors E14 and I12. I can still see the folders on the array, but when I try to open one it says Windows cannot access. The troubleshooting guide says for E14 to run a disk check from settings, but when I log in to the settings it shows all 4 drives as unformatted so I can't run the disk check.

I'm not sure what to try next or if I even have a next step. It's not time for data recovery, is it?

Call support, or start a chat. the key is to remove the bad drive, but you'd better be -danged- sure which drive it is, because if you pull the wrong one, you're toast. They can help with your best chance of recovery. get anything that is -absolutely irreplaceable- to a safer location asap.
