Title: LS220d emergency mode - normal operation restored
Post by: doobre on February 03, 2025, 07:47:08 PM
long story short - I thought I would try out the torrent app built in to the nas. Downloaded a torrent file and deleted it. Disabled the torrent app. Restarted the nas. Bamm "emergency mode", nas navi could see it but 'settings' and 'open shares' options were not showing in the list of options.

Downloaded the earliest firmware from the site mentioned in this forum [https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/HDD-SSD-NAS-USB-Flash/Buffalo/Buffalo-LS220D-NAS-Firmware-163.shtml] tried v1.62 first but that failed.

Ran the Lsupdate.exe from the v1.63 firmware and that worked.
Nas opened up as it should, still had the torrent app enabled.
I disabled it and restarted the nas again. All good.
I deleted the "transmission" folder that was created by the torrent app, restarted the nas.
Now it works again..

Hope this may help others who find the surprise "EMERGENCY MODE" appearing out of the blue.

Yes, LSUpdater is a valuable tool alright. Buffalo have provided a real bit of 'get out of jail' software there. I've resurrected my LS-WXL numerous times with it.
