we (my school) has a non-working Link station model: LS-W1.0TGL/R1. I believe it will not show up on our network.  I have heard there are ways to trouble shoot it via ubuntu. Any ideas, would be great, i know this is terribly vague, but I do not know much about it. I tried to plug it into my just my computer via ethernet and it would not show up on my mac, normally its accessed through the network. I guess i'm asking, how would i trouble shoot this item.

Also if all else did fail, couldn't i just take the hard drives out and use the some place else?

Link station model: LS-W1.0TGL/R1.

Mac Address 001D73 7F0B9D

Its made in china

First try a reset of the unit. It should go back to defaults.

They are as follows:

user: admin

Password: password

IP:169.254.X.X

Workgroup: WORKGROUP

After the reset, set the IP address of the computer directly connected to it to 169.254.X.Y, where Y is a different number between 0 and X. Try to run the nas navigator. If you find that you have access you can reconfigure the NAS to the proper settings.
