i have 2 LS220 NAS drives and I replaced the HDD in one since they were kinda small and over 12 years old. i took out 2 2TB drives and put in 2 4TB drives and now all I get is 7 flashing red LEDs.

I have looked online for ideas and this is what I have done
1) put the original drives back ions in the same order I took them out - 7 red LEDs
2) put the original in swapped order hoping for a configuration error - 7 red LEDs
3) put the new driver in - 7 red LEDs
4) reset the NAS by holding the button on the back with he following instructions
  I) held 10 sec with it switched off then turned it on still holding the button - 7 red LEDs

now I'm looking to see if there is anything else I can try. i really cant afford a new NAS at these time so Im hoping i can fix it.

Did you try powering off and then powering on with the old drives?

yes. i tried both in the excate why i removed then and then i also tried swapping then as well

I assumed, but you never said so specifically. The order of inserting drives wouldn't have any effect with the device off. Even which bay they go into wouldn't unless there was a problem with one of them it might.

Did you do anything like wipe the old drives? I don't think you've said anything so far that explains why the old drives would have stopped working.

E07 is "firmware not found", for units that do NOT have onboard recovery (the LS200 series did not... EXCEPT the DE models specifically)
The "firmware" is basically the OS and its on each of the drives, there was a TFTP thread around here somewhere with recovery directions, not sure if its still here, basically it will shoot over the loader to allow it to show in EM mode then running the firmware updater with format, then boot-loader again, then regular install will bring the unit back with stock firmware

If you know any linux theres a debian project by the kind guy above me, not recommended for beginners with no command line (CLI) experience

I whipped both the new and old drives and also tried them formatted too. i don't know anything about Linux other than Ubuntu witch I used for about 2 hours back about 8 years ago.
so i guess i am SOL. it was working find till i put the new drives in and all hell broke lose :(

Ive got some instructions and old files around here somewhere, give me a few days (maybe the weekend) and ill try to help.
