Title: reclaim BuffaloNAS.com domain names
Post by: cjm51213 on June 20, 2023, 10:25:09 AM
Hi Folks,

I have used the name "Doroteo.BuffaloNAS.com" in the past, but now I seek to re-use it, so I need to "re-register" it. I don't have the original key and I have no way to discover the key. Can I get some administrative help from Buffalo Tech to delete this NAS name so I can reclaim it through registration?

In fact I have three names, two of which show as "deleted" when I go to "BuffaloNAS.com" and ask, but in spite of being "deleted" I apparently can't use them.

So, my questions are:

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

Technically if the unit with the web access name does not connect to the internet for 60 days Buffalo say the name is automatically released.

Factually however this does not happen. Buffalo did do a purge on the names 12/24 months ago. I don't think that you can just request a buffalonas.com name to be purged since you don't know the key and so Buffalo wouldn't have anyway to verify you were actually the one using the name in the first place. If that was the case then what would be stopping you erasing someone elses web access name.
